The Portfolio of Jason Van Dyke

Welcome to my portfolio

Hey, he looks familiar!

I put this site together in order to showcase some of my work. Much of it is work that I completed for class, some of my own projects are featured, and a bit of commissioned work is included as well.

I have been interested in graphic design for a long time, ever since my kindergarten teacher sent home a commendation for my use of building blocks to create a checkerboard pattern. I eventually began to explore more complicated tools such as Microsoft Paint before quickly upgrading to pencil and paper. All sarcasm aside, I was first introduced to Adobe Illustrator 6 when I was 12 years old by my uncle, who used it for professional illustration. Ever since that time, I have been fascinated with creating things on the computer.

I have extensive experience in many of the Adobe applications, most prominently Photoshop, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, and Premier; though I have experimented with After Effects, Flash, and InDesign as well. In addition to my various exploits with the Adobe products, I began exploring other creative outlets such as music and programming while I was in highschool. After learning to program my calculator to help me solve problems in physics, I decided that it was rather useful and would like to know more of it. To date, I have had some experience with Ruby, Python, and C# and more extensive knowledge of PHP.

My ventures into the world wide web did not really start until I was nearly finished with highschool, but I like to think that I've learned a thing or two about the internet since then. I first began working with PHP when I realized that HTML and Javascript were just not cutting it for my parents' business website. That project is something that I still work on today and has evolved from a single HTML page into a legitimate web presence that features nearly 1,000 products and helps them make informed business decisions.

Anyways, that is a bit of information about my background. If you would like to get in touch with me, please visit my contact page.
