The Portfolio of Jason Van Dyke
Vector Creations
I began working with vectors a long time ago, but found it very difficult when I was just starting out with Illustrator 6. Fast forward many years later and it almost feels like second nature. I sometimes find myself using Illustrator for things that could probably be accomplished much easier with pencil and paper.
Dave Matthews Band T-Shirt
This is something that I put together for one of my classes at IUPUI. I was inspired by the Dave Matthews Band concert I'd been to that summer. The design is based off of the firedancer logo associated with Dave Matthews Band.
Vector Roomies
This set of pictures was born out of sheer boredom. When I first returned to my dorm for my second semester, I found that my internet connection was not active. A few snapshots with my phone later, and I started up Illustrator.
Siggraph T-Shirt Design
At the beginning of every year at IUPUI, the siggraph chapter holds a t-shirt design competition. My first entry, featuring the crane, won for that year. It was initially modelled in Cinema4D and exported to Illustrator, where I did the majority of the work on it.
Typographic Illustration
This was created for one of my classes at IUPUI. It is an illustration of David Gilmour from Pink Floyd using only the letters that appear in "Pink Floyd."
Technical Illustration
Another piece that was created for one of my classes; The object of this assignment was to do a semi-photorealistic illustration of an object. I chose to re-create my grandfather's watch.
